Individual Therapy for Adults

Make room for what you need.

You’re a person who is right there when others need you.

Your friends, family, work, and education are top priorities, and you give them your all. You want to make a positive impact on the world around you.

But maybe when it’s time to settle down at night, you can’t quiet the thought loops in your head. It’s hard to just be with yourself.

Or maybe find yourself feeling burnt out, stressed, exhausted, or resentful more often than you’d like.

It might be that a transition or loss in your life has you feeling off-balance. Or perhaps these feelings have been with you a long time. Maybe you find yourself in the same patterns in relationships over and over again, and you sense they aren’t right for you.

Now, imagine a space in your week that’s just for you.

Working with me is a space where you can be yourself, where you don’t have to be “put together” if you’re having a hard time. You can breathe, collect your thoughts, and focus on what matters most to you. You can discover or get reacquainted with yourself.

I will listen with attunement to your unique story, including the unique cultural aspects you bring; with a non-judgmental and compassionate perspective, I will offer support and guidance when you need it. We will work together to help you identify the strengths you already carry and the values that bring meaning to your life to help you reach your goals.

“What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.”

Oprah Winfrey

Meet your “messy” side with grace and compassion.

You are complex and contain many sides. These different sides are shaped by the stories we tell ourselves. We tell ourselves stories at all times to make sense of our experiences and the world. In many ways, this is adaptive and helps us accomplish so much. However, sometimes we get stuck on certain unhelpful stories-ones that maybe served us at some point in our lives but don’t serve us any longer.

We will work together to build awareness of when these stories get in our way. I will help you gain self-understanding, compassion and work towards healing and honoring these stories (rather than beating yourself up for having them).

“Am I experiencing burnout
or compassion fatigue?”

One of my specialties is working with people experiencing burnout or compassion fatigue, an experience you may have if you are in a helping role, either in your professional or personal life.

SEE IF ANY OF THESE SIGNS SOUND LIKE YOU:

  • Feeling helpless

  • Feeling powerless

  • Feeling detached or disengaged

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Low ability to empathize

  • Feeling burdened

  • Withdrawing from activities you love

  • Increased irritability or frustration

If you see yourself here, know that it’s okay to ask for help. We can work together to help you find out what needs to change and how you can be nourished and show up in your life the way you want to.

“Do I REALLY need to start therapy?”

If you’ve read this far, you are probably strongly considering starting therapy. I want you to know I see the vulnerability and courage in this decision. You may worry that perhaps it won’t help and feel reluctant to start. Or you may be worried about whether you can trust someone you don’t know. Or maybe you worry about what your family might think about you starting therapy.

The decision to start therapy is highly personal and entirely up to you.  At the beginning of our work together, we will take time to get to know each other and answer any questions you may have. You will be autonomous in this process, and I will strive to empower you to define your values and goals for yourself. As we work together, we will go at the pace that you set.

Online Therapy

I offer all of my services to you exclusively online through a secure telehealth video platform. You can get all the same benefits of counseling while staying home to keep yourself and the community safe during this time. Online therapy is confidential, just as any other therapy.

To participate in online therapy effectively, you will need a private space to talk, fast enough wi-fi, and a webcam (built-in to most computers and phones). If any of these might be a barrier for you, please let me know, and I’d be happy to try to help you problem-solve.
